Martine Chartrand was born in Montreal, studied the social sciences and the graphic arts at the Coll\u00e8ge Ahuntsic, and then the fine arts at Concordia University. She joined officially at the NFB as a colorist. After graduating with a teaching certificate while continuing to work as a designer and illustrator, she directed her first film ( TV Tango<\/em> , 1992).<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Black Soul<\/em> (2000 ; 09\u201947) is a poetic film about memory. It is a immersion exhilarating at the heart of black culture through a whirlwind trip through the defining moments of Black history.
