Mahmoud Eid is an associate professor in the Department of communication, University of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Eid has taught at the School of journalism of the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan, and the School of journalism and communication at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. His professional expertise lies in the quantitative and qualitative research regarding the effects of the mass media, and social development. His teaching experience and his research interests and publications focus on international communication, the media studies, research methods in communication, terrorism, crisis management and conflict resolution, modernity and the political economy of communication.

Dr. Eid is the editor-in-chief of the Global Media Journal — canadian edition . He is the editor of the series Communication Research Methods: Quantitative and Qualitative Approaches, the editor Cybercultures and the co-editor of Introduction to Media Studies.

The current research of Dr. Eid aim to develop rational choices and strategies that canadian policy-makers in communication can use when they are faced with a variety of potential situations of terrorism transnational and internal .
