In the framework of the fifth annual symposium on the promised land " Claim the promise : a retrospective on the history of African-Canadians ", the symposium offers an evening with award-winning canadian author and international success Lawrence Hill . Among his works, which Any Known Blood and Some Great Thing, figure The Book of Negroes, the critically-acclaimed and influential .
 The conference of Lawrence Hill this evening will cover a variety of topics drawn from her personal experiences growing up in the suburbs of Toronto and the effect of this experience on her creative work; her experiences of writing and research on "Black history" in this country; and the themes of the Symposium Promised Land this year. 
 
This evening also, a special ceremony award ceremony will take place so that the representatives of the Distinguished Women in International Service will be awarded to the winners of a local contest to write on Black history for young people.
