The laboratory was founded in 2005 by Boulou Ebanda de B béri with the financial assistance of the Canada foundation for innovation and the research Fund of the province of Ontario. The space itself, which has been endowed by the Faculty of arts of the University of Ottawa, is home to a variety of camera equipment, sound recording and Web development to facilitate the mandate of the laboratory.
