Miia Rantala is a PhD student at the University of Lapland (Rovaniemi, Finland) and an associate member of the Doctoral School of Communication Studies in Finland 2010-13. The aim of her multidisciplinary doctoral thesis is to analyze the visual representations of ethnicity and ‘race’ in Finnish primetime TV ads
on commercial channels.
