The AMLAC&S (the lab) is a laboratory of audiovisual media engaged in the study of multicultural societies, and cultures as a whole. This space is dedicated to research, documentation and the creation of audiovisual productions specifically targeting the cultural practices of communities or marginalized identity groups, such as Blacks, and Indigenous peoples.
The goal of the laboratory is to produce research material that exposes the contributions of minorities to cultural, ethnic, and race through their cultural practices specific. Thanks to the laboratory, we conceptualize the issues of citizenship in multicultural societies in Canada.
Le laboratoire a été fondé en 2005 par Boulou Ebanda de B’béri avec l’aide financière de la Fondation canadienne pour l’innovation et du Fonds de recherche de l’Ontario. L’espace lui-même, qui a été doté par la Faculté des arts de l’Université d’Ottawa, abrite une variété d’équipements de tournage, d’enregistrement sonore et de développement Web pour faciliter le mandat du laboratoire.
Objectives
The main objectives of AMLAC&S are :
- Establish a database of audiovisual targeting practices specific identity by identity groups, racialized and ethnicisés;
- Produce audio-visual materials artistic and educational, which represent adequately the complexity of the cultural practices and the
social theory and cultural ; - Cultivate a " voice to see " (to represent) these cultural practices which articulate issues relating to the experiences of minorities in cultural, racial and ethnic backgrounds in multicultural societies ;
- Develop reference documents cultural practices that would otherwise be produced or represented through the "devices" from a research center with its own infrastructure for production and distribution, and of which the objects of the research are targeted, specifically, representations , ethnic and cultural minorities and their experiences ; and
- Build links between the academic community and some of the practices of identity produced in the margin of the benchmarks.
