The importance of personal stories in the film in sub-saharan Africa

This article will review briefly how the memory is evoked in six films through the timeline of african cinema : Med Hondo' Sun O (Mauritania/France, 1969), Ousmane Sembene, Xala (Senegal, 1975), Flora Gomes, The blue Eyes of Yonta (Guinea-Bissau, 1992), Djibril Diop Mambéty' Hyenas (Senegal, 1992), Ousmane Sembene' Faat Kiné (Senegal, 2000), and Fanta Regina Nacro' The Night of Truth (Burkina Faso, 2004).
