What role would the memory in the restitution of the story to the screen, if it did not need to verify the facts that are mentioned in the images and dialogues ? This article explores the use by Raoul Peck to his memory, emotional and intellectual in his two films on the first elected Prime minister of the Congo : Both Lumumba and the death of the prophet (documentary, 1991) and Lumumba (biopic, 2001).
